Excerpted with each are selections from Jonathan Whipple&#8217;s <em>The Schoolmate (1854)</em>, a tome wherein he describes for future astronomers the best way in which to <a href="http://www.merrycoz.org/smate/MOON.HTM">photograph the moon</a>.</p>
